Biography Page

In 1983, Richard moved to Lake Fork with the hopes of being a successful fishing guide.  The knowledge that he gained from fishing Lake Fork 250 to 300 days a year is indicated by his history of big bass and his success on the BASSMASTER Tournament Trail.  In four years of fishing the BASSMASTER Tournament Circuit, he qualified for the BASSMASTER CLASSIC two times.  Richard is one of only three men to donate three (3) largemouth bass to the Share Lunker Program sponsored by Budweiser and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.  These three fish weighed 13.59 caught in 1989, a 14.07 caught in 1994 and a 14.20 caught in the year 2000......... click here for more.

Lake Fork Information

Lake Fork is the premier trophy bass lake in the state of Texas.  Prior to impoundment, the ponds that would eventually be inundated were stocked with Florida strain largemouth bass up to 8.5 pounds.  The fish grew in these ponds until the ponds were inundated and became part of Lake Fork.  Lake Fork achieved national recognition in 1986 when a 17 pound 10 ounce bass was boated.  In the following five years, more 13+ pound bass were caught out of Lake Fork than any other lake in the southeast U.S. bringing national and world recognition to Lake Fork......... click here for more.

Trip Information

Richard McCarty fishes Lake Fork  out of a 20' Triton Boat with a 200 hp Johnson motor . The usual day of fishing is 10 hours, but you can be sure that a guided trip on Lake Fork with Richard McCarty as your guide will be anything but usual. Richard fishes with artificial baits only. Whether you like to fish during the day or to brave lake fork at night Richard will be there for you. Richard prefers that his  clients bring their own equipment mainly because they know their equipment better than the furnished equipment.
